Karro and Gilbert contested their Honda CRF250R machines in the British round of EMX2, the European MX2 championship series in which Karro qualified in second place and narrowly missed setting the fastest qualifying lap. Gilbert also qualified directly for the main races in 14th place.
In race one Karro got boxed in the first corner where a rider crashed in front of him, forcing him to rejoin near the back of the field. He climbed his way back into the top ten before unfortunately crashing again. Gilbert got close to a points-scoring finish but was affected by arm-pump in the closing stages.
Gilbert enjoyed another steady ride in race two when things went better for Karro. Despite still not being fully race-fit after his recent injury, he was able to compete in the top ten, eventually finishing in ninth place.
In the British round of the Women's MXGP world championship, regular British championship rider Natalie Kane finished race one in a creditable fourth place against some 34 other female competitors, even running third for several laps.
With a better start in race two, Kane was battling in fifth place but stalled her machine while attempting a pass. She restarted in 12th place and fought back into the top ten for ninth place at the flag.
Matiss Karro: "I'm disappointed as my speed was better than the results but, on a positive note, I feel like I'm getting stronger and faster all the time."
Josh Gilbert: "The track was quite tough and the riders were really fast, but I enjoyed it and I'm learning all the time."
Natalie Kane: "I was happy enough with the first race but in the second I had a small problem with the clutch. I'm not happy with the overall result as I wanted to do better at my home race. I'm pleased to be back racing though!"
Mark Chamberlain - MVDR Honda team principal: "It was nice to have all the riders back at the same time. We have some work to do on a few aspects of the team. We are playing catch-up with the injury issues we have had but we know what needs to be done."
